The Click of Death
by Jim Hern
SUMMARY
A common man with common financial needs lists an item on ebay. The celebrity-person related to this listed item mysteriously dies before auction close. The value of the item climbs and he (The lister) benefits from this death. He lists other items and others die. He doesn’t notice this at first, but he begins to see the correlation and starts to use it to his advantage and even as a thrill. He gains financially from these actions. He realizes his power and actually “clicks” away some people he doesn’t like. He becomes so involved in this “listing” process that he quits his job. He buys items of specific significance just for the reason of profit, regardless of whose life it effects.
The power gets out of control. He has a battle with morality and tries to find control. Unfortunately, because he quit his job he needs income, so he he tries to sell items that he believes has no connection to any one individual at all, but things start showing up in newspaper articles and news programs that prove otherwise. Innocent people are dying because of some remote connection to the “listed” items. Even friends and family members are “clicked” away.
In an attempt to sell insignificant items, he lists a doll (that he bought in an old novelty store in one of his travels) and he falls ill and dies. This doll was the root of the evil.
Someone cleaning up the room after his death finds the doll and decides to keep it...or maybe sell it on line. |
